Good Shepherd Health Center - Spiritual Services

As a social ministry affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Good Shepherd realizes that residents' needs go beyond those that can be met with the appropriate physical care. Our pastoral care department, headed by the Rev. Kent A. Mechler, provides and coordinates spiritual care for the residents of the Health Center, along with Kentucky Ridge and Cornerstone Assisted Living, the Manor, and the Shalom Towers I and II.

Regular activities of the pastoral care department include weekly Bible studies, mid-week devotional services, memorial services, and Sunday worship services in the Good Shepherd chapel. Individual visits with residents to assess and address their spiritual needs, along with hospital and hospice visitations, are also an integral part of the spiritual care that Good Shepherd provides. Being there for residents' families is also an important part of our ministry.

Good Shepherd strives to maintain a good working relationship with all the various denominations and congregations in the area, in order to work together to meet residents' needs regardless of denominational or faith background. Committed volunteers from a variety of churches are involved in many of the activities and services available to the Good Shepherd community.
